Liona Boyd & the Hilltop Singers!!

Liona Boyd will be performing here at St. Andrew’s on Friday, July 10th at 8 p.m.  We are very honoured that she has picked St. Andrew’s as a concert venue and even  more honoured that she has requested that  our very own Hilltop Singers join her for this concert. Tickets can be purchased only through Liona Boyd at Ticketmaster.ca.  They are $39.50 for adults and $34.50 for Seniors and Youth. Below is a bio on Liona.

Liona Boyd, five time Juno award winner, "The First Lady of the Guitar", has introduced millions around the world to the art of classical guitar through her concerts, television specials, and twenty-four recordings, many of which have gone Gold and Platinum. Liona’s YouTube views now total over 4 million. “A Winter Fantasy” released in October 2014 is Liona’s third holiday album, a beautiful record that interweaves beloved traditional holiday music with her own original material. In 2013 she released “The Return… To Canada with Love”, over two years in the making, this record includes guest artists such as Olivia Newton-John and Dan Hill. “The Return…” concludes with the patriotic song “Canada My Canada” that features a cast of celebrated Canadian artists including Jann Arden, Randy Bachman, Chris Hadfield and Serena Ryder. In 2009 Liona embarked upon an exciting new chapter in her career when she added singing to her guitar playing. She is now an accomplished singer and songwriter, while still integrating her classical guitar style into the new repertoire. Universal Music will release a new CD of original songs later in 2015.

Liona has given solo and orchestral concerts around the globe and played for dozens of world leaders including the British Royal Family and the US President. She has recorded with Sir Andrew Davis and the English Chamber Orchestra, Yo Yo Ma and Georges Zamfir, and breaking with classical tradition has toured with Gordon Lightfoot and Tracy Chapman as well as recorded with Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, and Roger Whittaker. Liona has been a special guest on dozens of American television shows including The Tonight Show, Today Show, Boston Pops and Entertainment Tonight. Her virtuoso talents resulted in five Juno awards, five Honorary Doctorates, The Order of Canada, The Order of Ontario and the Diamond Jubilee Medal. She is a five-time winner of the Guitar Player Magazine poll for best classical guitarist and has been inducted into their "Gallery of Greats." Liona has composed and arranged hundreds of pieces for her instrument and also penned a best-selling autobiography, "In My Own Key... My Life in Love and Music".

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
